Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler

  • 4 cups sliced peaches (fresh, frozen, or canned)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the sliced peaches, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Mix well to coat the peaches with the sugar and flavorings. Set aside while you prepare the topping.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt for the topping.
  4. Pour in the milk and melted butter. Stir until just combined; don’t overmix.
  5. Place your Dutch oven over medium-low heat or set it on a grill grate over a campfire. Add the peach filling to the Dutch oven and spread it evenly.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the cobbler topping mixture over the peaches, covering them as much as possible.
  7. Cover the Dutch oven with its lid. If cooking on a campfire, you can place some coals on the lid for even heat distribution.
  8. Bake the peach cobbler in the preheated oven or over the campfire for about 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Carefully remove the Dutch oven from the oven or campfire and let it cool slightly before serving.
  10. Serve the warm Dutch oven peach cobbler in individual bowls. You can also top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.

Enjoy your delicious Dutch oven peach cobbler with its sweet and juicy peach filling and perfectly baked topping!
